What makes this role unique:
· Tackle challenging payroll queries and data discrepancies.
· Investigate and resolve issues with PAYE, NIC, statutory leave, and tax.
· Carry out manual calculations and corrections to ensure accurate reporting.
· Provide consultative support, helping customers understand and implement solutions.
· Act as an escalation point and mentor others on complex cases.
Typical examples of work you’ll handle:
· Correcting overpayments and adjusting YTD figures.
· Reconciling missing year-to-date data impacting statutory documents (e.g., P60s).
· Resolving errors with statutory leave payments across multiple months.
· Identifying and correcting missed NI thresholds and their impact.
What we’re looking for:
· 3+ years’ payroll experience (bureau, software, or service background preferred).
· Strong knowledge of PAYE, NIC, statutory leave, and tax.
· Confidence in manual calculations and data reconciliation.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and clear communication.
· A professional payroll qualification (CIPP or similar) – desirable but not essential.
