This is a varied, hands-on supervisory role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of despatch, warehouse and material control operations. You’ll lead a team, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensure materials and finished products are managed efficiently and delivered on time.
Anna Maher Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in Sheffield to recruit a Despatch & Warehouse Team Leader to join their team.
Working closely with teams across the business, you’ll help maintain high standards of quality, safety and organisation, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive operational performance.

The Role
As Despatch & Warehouse Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
Leading and supporting the despatch team to ensure finished goods are packed and dispatched accurately and on time to UK and international customers.
Managing stock levels, material traceability and stock records in line with company procedures and ISO requirements.
Issuing materials to production in line with demand and ensuring excess materials are correctly returned to stock.
Sourcing materials, monitoring minimum stock levels and managing special requirements.
Coordinating subcontracted operations to meet production requirements and agreed timescales.
Managing supplier relationships, including purchase orders, order book reviews, forecasts and delivery performance.
Working closely with suppliers and subcontractors to identify potential risks, resolve issues and maintain reliable delivery performance.
Liaising with departments across the business to ensure production and customer requirements are met.
Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient warehouse environment, with high standards of housekeeping.
Monitoring performance against key performance indicators and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Supporting, training and developing team members to ensure the team is organised, engaged and working towards agreed targets.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident in leading a team. You’ll be comfortable balancing hands-on warehouse and despatch activities with supervisory responsibilities and supplier management.
Ideally, you’ll have:
Previous experience in a Team Leader, Line Leader or Supervisory role within despatch, goods in, warehousing, production or manufacturing.
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
Experience using ERP systems.
A good understanding of stock control, material traceability and product or process flow.
Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with internal departments, suppliers and subcontractors.
The ability to interpret data, monitor performance and respond to changing customer or production requirements.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
A positive leadership style, with the ability to engage, develop and support a team.
You’ll also understand the importance of health and safety, quality standards and maintaining accurate stock records, while promoting a fair, respectful and professional working environment.
